Medium Green
 
Joules & Joules Medium Green Matte Acrylic Paint is a warm, well-balanced green with a subtle yellow bias, created from the blend of Arylide Lemon Yellow (PY3) and Phthalo Green (PG7). Its color mass is intense, with a matte yet luminous finish, offering excellent lightfastness, high tinting strength, and stable behavior in both dense and diluted applications. Semi-opaque in nature, Medium Green provides satisfying coverage while maintaining transparency in layered work, making it ideal for depicting sunlit vegetation, reflections, and transitional areas between cool and warm tones. It dries quickly, with strong adhesion and an even, uniform paint film.
 
Historically, Medium Green belongs to the category of modern mixed hues, formulated with synthetic pigments developed throughout the 20th century. Arylide Yellow, first synthesized in the 1920s, and Phthalo Green, introduced in 1927, transformed the contemporary artist’s palette by offering purer, safer, and more lightfast alternatives to traditional mineral and organic pigments. This combination recreates the vibrant, natural character of greens found in the landscape, closely resembling fresh foliage and sunlit fields, and has become a standard in modern artists’ paint formulations.
